5th Aviation & Environment Summit

SkyNRG participated in the 5th Aviation & Environment Summit amongst others through Dirk Kronemeijer forming part of one of the expert panel discussions at this important conference.

There were four major industry announcements during the course of the 1st day. Eurocontrol announced that the European Continuous Descent Approach (CDA) Action Plan is clearly on track to reach the target of CDA implementation at 100 European airports by 2013 with 83 signed up so far.

AIRE has also enjoyed a successful start to its green flight trials while more and more European airports are also signing up to ACI Europe’s Airport Accreditation Scheme. The latest addition is London-Heathrow – the busiest airport in the world, in terms of international passenger traffic – which recently submitted its application.

IATA also announced the launch of the iFlex program which will allow airlines to reduce carbon emissions and fuel burn by up to 2% on certain long-haul flights.
