SkyNRG has set out to build a self-sustaining network of regional supply chains, so-called ‘Direct Supply Lines’ (DSLs), for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Europe. A DSL is a supply chain for sustainable aviation fuel consisting of local feedstock, a commercial scale plant and long-term offtake partners. Supported by Climate-KIC, SkyNRG has installed “Team DSL”, a dedicated team of experienced professionals who will analyse, finance, and develop DSLs throughout Europe.

Team DSL consists of Bart Rosendaal, Kasper Spitzen, Hein van den Hout, Marc Kenis and Remco van der Horst. They have relevant experience in technology assessment, project development, contracting, legal, project financing, EPC (engineering, procurement & construction) management, plant start-up and operations and trading. Team DSL focuses on selecting a location, feedstock & technology and on developing replicable and profitable business models. To capture all environmental and socio-economic benefits of the selected DSLs, team DSL is advised by SkyNRG’s Sustainability Board and adheres to SkyNRG’s stringent sustainability standards.

Currently, Team DSL is selecting sites, finding strategic (local) partners across the supply chain and investigating the best funding strategies. The ambition is to have the first DSL operational by 2021 with four more DSLs in development.

DSLs will be high impact, high visibility projects and we are looking for strong and reliable strategic partners throughout the entire supply chain (feedstock suppliers, location providers, EPC companies, off-takers, financiers, etc.) for each DSL.
