First commercial flight on sustainable jet fuel in the world.
KLM has completed its first commercial biofuel flight using a Boeing 737-800 operating with a 50/50 blend of biofuel to regular kerosene.
The flight (KL1233) operated June 29 between Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport carrying 171 passengers.

July 20 Finnair airplane is fueled by sustainable jet fuel.
Finnair’s first biofuel flight, AY846 from Amsterdam to Helsinki, departed from Amsterdam at 18:50 local time and arrived in Helsinki at 22:10. The flight was operated with an Airbus A319 aircraft.

Birmingham Airport
Thomson Airways became the first UK airline to fly customers on sustainable biofuel.
The flight TOM 7446 took off from Birmingham Airport to Arrecife. A Boeing 757-200, carrying 232 passengers,departed on October 6, 2011 at 14:25 HRS for the four hour flight.

The Airbus A321 flew from Toulouse and Paris, using 50/50 blend of biofuels and aviation fuel in both engines.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac)
Alaska Airlines launched the first commercial, biofuel-powered regularly scheduled flight service in the United States on Wednesday, November 9th 2011. The launching flight ran from Seattle to Washington, D.C.

Thai Airways is the first airline in Asia to fly a commercial passenger flight using biofuels.
The launching flight left on December 22, 2011 from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Passengers consisted of 100 students and professors who were invited to join the special flight. Revenues from the journey went towards developing renewable energy in Thailand.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac)
SkyNRG serves first Middle Eastern airline.
The delivery flight of the airline’s newest Boeing 777-300ER, from Seattle to Abu Dhabi, that arrived on January 24 was the first in the Gulf to be operated using sustainable biofuel.

LAN Chile and Air BP Copec launched its first commercial flight with second generation jet fuel.
The flight, which operated between the Chilean cities of Santiago and Concepcion, was conducted on an Airbus from the A320 family with CFM56-5B motors. The fuel came from used cooking oil.

Sydney Airport
The first biofuel flight departed from Sydney. It arrived in Adelaide, Australia, nearly two hours later, before returning to Sydney.
Qantas also announced that it operated a flight powered by the same biofuel blend on subsidiary airline Jetstar on April 19, 2012.
Nr. 10 Air Canada flight 991 June 18, 2012
from Toronto to Mexico City, on an Airbus A319
Air Canada operated its first flight with biofuel to highlight the airlines commitment to the environment. Flight AC991 from Toronto to Mexico City expected to generate at least 40 per cent fewer emissions by using jet fuel derived from recycled cooking oil and through other fuel-saving measures, making it the most environmentally-friendly flight ever flown by Air Canada.
