SkyNRG PNW – Business Development Associate

For our SkyNRG Pacific Northwest (PNW) project, we are looking for a fulltime Business Development Associate to complement our US team which is located in in Bend, Oregon. SkyNRG’s PNW project is focused on the development of a Sustainable Aviation Fuel production facility in the state of Washington.

SkyNRG is a dedicated team of professionals working to materially decarbonize the aviation sector through the sales, distribution and production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) since 2009. We have the largest dedicated SAF team in the world with our Headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We work collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders, from airlines, businesses, governments, and NGOs to academics, and we do not compromise on sustainability in our effort to bring new fueling solutions to the aviation industry. As a Business Development Associate you will be part of the US team but will work closely with the Amsterdam team as well.

Our SkyNRG PNW project is on track to realize SkyNRG’s first Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production facility in North America this decade. The project builds upon our track record of the last decade of success in the SAF industry and we have strong partners committed to our efforts. The team is led by a very experienced CEO, with a long history in project and technology development, execution and operations of commercial biofuel production facilities. The SkyNRG PNW project will be using renewable natural gas (RNG) as feedstock to produce 30-million-gallons (90,000 tons) of SAF per year through licensed technologies from leading technology providers. We have made significant progress over the last two years that includes site selection, feedstock assessments and technology choices for the project. We are ready to take the next steps in development of this project and the Business Development Associate is an important addition the team.

About the Position

This role entails a mix between business development and business analysis. You will play an important role in the development of the project and will closely work with the CEO of SkyNRG Americas. You will be responsible for engaging with (regional) stakeholders for a variety of business development activities, conducting analyses to support decision making and represent the company at external events. Our ideal candidate is deeply committed to addressing climate change, passionate about aviation, an effective communicator with strong writing skills, commercial & social acumen and has the relevant analytical and/or technical skills to become a SAF subject matter expert with support from the entire SkyNRG team.


Preference for on-site position in Bend, Oregon. A remote position in the Pacific Time zone could be considered, although frequent travel to the Bend office is expected by the individual. Furthermore, we have a preference to train & educate you on-site in the Amsterdam office with the relevant teams for an initial period at the start of employment.

Expected compensation

Annual compensation commensurate with experience and industry benchmarking – anticipated range is $70,000 – $85,000 depending on qualifications of the candidate.

Your Profile 

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Is entrepreneurial, independent, persistent and likes a startup environment
  • 3-6 years of relevant working experience (e.g. strategy consulting, business development, business analyst, banking, asset development, etc..)
  • A relevant undergraduate/graduate degree (e.g., business, economics, technical)
  • Effective communicator with great interpersonal skills and comfortable representing the company with external audiences
  • Strong analytical skills and comfortable with technical topics
  • Strong personal commitment to addressing climate change with innovative solutions

Additionally, the following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Experience in the clean fuels or renewable energy industries
  • Experience working with stakeholders in the Pacific Northwest

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive management to align activities with desired business outcomes

  • Build and manage (regional) project stakeholder relationships
  • Conduct analyses to identify business development opportunities and support decision making
  • Write reports and make presentations to facilitate decision making
  • Engage project management activities to safeguard project timelines and milestones of the 1st SAF project
  • Support, prepare and engage in public speaking opportunities
  • Collect and analyze relevant market intelligence and convert to business development opportunities
