What is B Corp?
Founded in 2006, B Lab created the Benefit Corporation (B Corp) Certification, a rigorous standard recognizing companies that meet the highest levels of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Through its standards, tools, and advocacy, B Lab helps thousands of businesses worldwide to build a more sustainable future.
What does B Corp mean to us?
SkyNRG received its first B Corp certification in 2021. Since then, B Corp has been a platform for us to showcase our performance across the following categories: environment, workers, governance, community, and customers. Becoming a B Corp demonstrates our commitment to sustainability through the supply of high-integrity Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Our SAF is high-integrity because it goes beyond regulatory sustainability requirements. In addition, we have an independent Sustainability Board to hold us accountable for the sustainability impact of our business decisions.
B Corp aligns with SkyNRG’s purpose to make sustainable flying a reality for future generations, as well as our values of being driven, genuine, changemakers. Alongside supplying high-integrity SAF, we educate the industry and our customers through our thought leadership pieces highlighting the systemic changes required to scale SAF uptake. Being a B Corp means taking part in a global movement and community with like-minded business leaders. It continues to set us apart from others in the renewable fuels industry and SkyNRG continues to be the only renewable fuel supplier that is B Corp certified.
Our score
To qualify as a B Corp, organizations must score at least 80 points. In our 2025 recertification, we scored 81.5 points. Our strongest performance lies in the environmental impact category, reflected in two Impact Business Models (IBMs). IBMs recognize business models that deliver specific, material, verifiable, lasting, and extraordinary positive outcomes for stakeholders. Because the environmental benefits of the SAF we supply meet these criteria, we unlocked two IBMs related to:
- Our SAF sales that reduce lifecycle GHG emissions from aviation.
- Educating our partners on the environmental benefits of SAF.
Compared to the 2021 certification round, we improved in the workers impact category. The improvement reflects the efforts made by our People and Culture team on a gender pay equity analysis and providing employee ownership opportunities through our Employee Participation Plan. It also reflects our contribution to employees’ wellbeing, including financial security, satisfaction, engagement, and more.
We recognize that our score is just above the minimum threshold for B Corp certification and that there is meaningful room for improvement. As the B Corp framework emphasizes continuous improvement, we are committed to elevating our impact as we prepare for recertification under a newly updated standard.

What the new standards entail
This year, B Lab issued redefined standards, moving from a point-based certification to a requirement-based one. In the previous requirements, companies could perform well in one impact category and poorly in another, but still achieve enough points on average to become a B Corp. Now companies must perform well in all the impact categories and meet a minimum set of requirements to show that they are holistically sustainable, making it more challenging to qualify.
A key change is that the number of impact categories has increased from five to seven. The new standards reduce the risk of greenwashing and set companies up to make substantiated claims. They promote stakeholder engagement, inclusion in decision-making, and require organizations to have a systemic framework to present how social and environmental representatives are included officially as stakeholders.
The new standards retain the overall themes of the previous framework but expand with added emphasis on a company’s lobbying activities and thought leadership efforts via the Government Affairs and Collective Action (GACA) impact category. The Climate Action (CA) impact category ensures that every company has a climate action plan to show its commitment to limit global warming to 1.5˚C. The Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) impact category focuses on addressing systemic inequities to ensure fair access to opportunities and diverse workplaces. Strengthening our performance across these areas will enable us to make an even more sustainable impact.
